Emily Tyner, Director of Freshwater Strategy at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, spent time with us this week to share some exciting developments about protections for Wisconsin’s natural resources and specifically the Bay of Green Bay.
The Bay has been selected by a federal agency for the newest National Estuarine Research Reserve – or NERR. The facility and protected shorelines will be part of a network of 29 protected sites that protects over 1.3 million acres of estuaries. Tyner is leading the establishment of the facility and forging partnerships for meaningful research. The project is a partnership between UW-Green Bay, state and federal agencies.
