Green Bay West Rotary President Bob Faulds presents Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich with a certificate that commits to inoculate 10 people with the polio vaccine worldwide in the Mayor’s honor. It was our honor to have Mayor Genrich as our guest today, especially after the Green Bay Packers win over Seattle on Sunday, through which a few good-natured wagers were won by Titletown.
The mayor, a former three term state assemblyman, Green Bay native and UW alumni, spoke about priorities established during his first term in office including creating a diversity and inclusion coordinator post and growing the city’s brand and identity as a place with great hospitality. Improving customer service and a mindset of purpose for city employees and building on a positive trajectory of economic and community development that may include a downtown grocery store and housing, are a few highlights. The job doesn’t come without challenges, including his first budget passed in November which included a property tax increase, primarily due to public safety costs and flooding woes. We appreciate the challenges of the job and Mayor Genrich’s purpose to serve, much aligned to Rotary’s mission of service above self. Thanks Mayor Genrich for the great discussion!
