Interim Superintendent Vicki Bayer delivered a powerful message regarding the future of Green Bay Public Schools.
At our April 25 meeting, Green Bay Area Public Schools Interim Superintendent Vicki Bayer gave us a candid but somewhat disturbing report regarding the future of our public schools. Green Bay is looking at closing/repurposing at least 12 facilities in light of declining enrollment, a looming budget deficit of $26 million, and, perhaps most notable, the restraints caused by legislative fiat concerning funding options. We can all reach out to our legislators and seek needed changes in the state funding formulas. As we do for all our speakers, we presented Ms. Bayer with a certificate confirming that we will be inoculating 10 children against polio in her name.
