Green Bay West Rotary members had the opportunity to meet UW-Green Bay’s new Chancellor Mike Alexander during the virtual meeting this week. The New York native who holds degrees from both UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee, shared the university’s vision and mission and the renewed focus on closing the educational achievement gap in Northeast Wisconsin by providing access to higher education for all those who seek it.
The university has experienced continued enrollment growth, even amid the pandemic, with 900 more students enrolled in summer classes than last year and larger enrollment expected in when classes resume in September. With a student body of more than 8,000, Alexander predicts enrollment to top 10,000 in the next few years, and for future enrollment to meet the university’s first Chancellor Ed Weidner’s prediction of 20,000 students.
